Course DescriptioN
The 15 kilometer course essentially consists of one big loop counter-clockwise along most of the Glenwild route. The race begins with a 1 mile paved section to separate and spread out the field before reaching trails. Other than a bit of dirt road running 90% of the course is on single track itself. But don't worry, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to move freely or pass other runners.
Once on trails, you'll run what is called the aforementioned ‘Glenwild’ loop counter-clockwise. There’s a short climb at the beginning of this section on the Blackhawk trail, before connecting with the Glenwild Loop trail which you will stay on for approximately the next 5.4 miles. After this stretch on Glenwild, you’ll turn right at the trail junction to access the Blackhawk trail where you’ll continue a long descent towards the finish. After .4 miles on the Blackhawk trail, stay alert because you’ll be making another right turn onto Blackhawk drop and then shortly after that, a left onto the Stealth trail which you’ll follow back to the Spring Creek trail head at the bottom of Glenwild.
Finally, a quarter-mile of pavement takes you to the finish: duck under I-80 via a pedestrian tunnel, and along the path to the finish line at Newpark Amphitheater, where you'll be greeted with music, food and drink.
An award ceremony will follow the race and recognize the top three overall male and female finishers.
