Course DescriptioN

The 30 kilometer course essentially consists of one big loop counter-clockwise along the famous “Flying Dog” route.

The race begins with a 1 mile paved section to separate and spread out the field before reaching trails. Other than a bit of dirt road running 90% of the course is on single track itself. But don't worry, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to move freely or pass other runners.

Once on trails, you'll run what is called the aforementioned ‘Flying Dog’ loop counter-clockwise. There’s a short climb at the beginning of this section on the Blackhawk trail, before following a downhill to rolling section of the Glenwild trail before the big climb of this section up to the top of Flying Dog. Next there is a long, fast descent through aspen groves and past a beaver dam as you make your way through the woods and down to the 24/7 trail intersection, where you turn left and follow 24/7 for more mostly gradual descending (there a few short climbs at various intervals) before connecting with the Stealth trail back to the Spring Creek trail head at the bottom of Glenwild.  Finally, a quarter-mile of pavement takes you to the finish: duck under I-80 via a pedestrian tunnel, and along the path to the finish line at Newpark Amphitheater, where you'll be greeted with music, food and drink.

An award ceremony will follow the race and recognize the top three overall male and female finishers.
